The vaults of Italian bank Credito Emiliano are bursting with cheese.
The bank accepts Parmigiano cheese as collateral from cash-strapped cheesemakers.
Credito Emiliano has amassed cheese reserves of 17,000 tons of aged Parmigiano. The 440,000 wheels of cheese are appraised at $187 million.
So... that's about 425.00 a wheel... hmmmm, not bad!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind having a "savings account" at this bank. The idea of cheese ATMs is a little scary though. Might fly in Japan.
ReplyDeleteCheese ATMs!! That's brilliant!! They could make it to where the cheesy ATMs distribute each cheese chunk in those little individually wrapped ones like you can get at the grocery store nowadays! I love that idea! It'd be great if they could place the cheese ATMs inside hospitals and such, too. I'd much rather have a slice of colby cheese for my 2:00AM snack then the crap that's available now in the vendor machines..colby, monterey jack, pepper jack, American, cheddar...there'd have to be a variety of cheeses to choose from in the cheesy ATMs...that way I could pick & choose a different type each night that I'm at work..yum..I heart cheese ;)
ReplyDeleteThis could work in the South, but the cheese would have to be deep fried.
